From Ottoman Turkish اسهام (esham), presuming a plural ***أَسْهَام (***ʔashām) of Arabic سَهْم (sahm), while in Arabic one uses, oddly contrary to this, the plural أَسْهُم (ʔashum) for “shares, stocks”, else verbal noun of form IV إِسْهَام (ʔishām, “to give a share in”).
