From Old High German stān, stēn, from Proto-Germanic *stāną. The same alternation is found throughout Central Franconian as well as in Limburgish and Low German. The infinitive is from stān, while the other present forms are from stēn. This latter alternation is confined to westernmost Moselle Franconian.
