telts
Borrowed from Middle Low German telt (“tent”). Compare German Zelt. Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *del- (“split, cut”), whence Proto-Germanic *teldą. From the same Proto-Indo-European source Latvian dalīt (“divide”), deldēt (“wear out”).[1]
