Albanian
Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *tsikā, possibly derived from Proto-Indo-European *ḱeh₃- (“to sharpen”), compare Armenian սուր (sur, “sharp; knife”) and Sanskrit शा (śā, “to sharpen”).[1] Meyer (1891) and others consider alternatively a borrowing from Latin sīca (“a poniard, curved dagger”),[2] while other scholars believe instead the opposite.[3]
Noun
thikë f (plural thika, definite thika, definite plural thikat)
- knife, dagger
