Has been hypothesized to be borrowed from Middle Persian *dūd xān or *dūd xānag[1] continued[2] in Dari دود خانه (dūd-xāna, “smoke-room, the compartment of a house below a chimney; family, house, = دودمان (dūdmān)”).
