      manābitu-hū miṯlu s-sudūsi wa-lawnu-hū
      ka-šawki s-siyāli fa-hwa ʕaḏbun yafīṣu

      its plantings equalling woad and the colour it passes,
      like milk-vetch, it’s a thing with but a sweetness that lapses.

      ḥaddaṯanā ʔabū bakri bnu ʔabī šaybata, ḥaddaṯanā hušaymun, ʕan ḥuṣaynin, ʕan ʔabī wāʔilin, ʕan ḥuḏayfata, qāla kāna rasūlu l-lahi ʔiḏā qāma li-yatahajjada yašūṣu fā-hu bi-s-siwāki.
