From Old Hindi कछु (kachu) undergoing metathesis, from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀓𑀺𑀁𑀘𑀺 (kiṃci); see there for more. Cognate with Bengali কিছু (kichu) and Punjabi ਕੁਝ (kujh).
