Borrowed from early Parthian: compare Manichaean Parthian 𐫖𐫃𐫁𐫏𐫅 (mgbyd /maγbed/), Middle Persian (mgwpt' /mowbed/), Persian موبد (mowbed, mubed, “mobad”). Doublet of մովպետան մովպետ (movpetan movpet) and մուբիտան մուբիտ (mubitan mubit). Equivalent to մոգ (mog) + պետ (pet).
