        So the chief-executioner came out boasting that he would put her to a cruel death. He had them taken in chains out of the city by the South Gate, along the road that leads to the Metsamawr bridge, to the place where they were accustomed to execute those condemned to death, a marshy place near the moat which ran round the city.
