Borrowed from Georgian-Zan: compare Georgian ფხვნა (pxvna, to crumble), ფხვიერი (pxvieri, crumbly).[1] The similarity with the Kartvelian words was first noticed by Marr.[2] Ultimately from Proto-Georgian-Zan *parxw-.
