Etymology

Supposedly named after (げん)(のう)(しん)(しょう) (Gennō Shinshō, Shinshō Gennō), sometimes spelled 源翁心昭, who according to legend, used one of these to smash the (せっ)(しょう)(せき) (Sesshōseki, Killing Stone). The ō reading for changes to as an instance of renjō (連声).
