From earlier *mwùCí-. While the lost consonant cannot be ascertained, the tonal pattern surfaces in conjugated forms, where for instance *Cí- can merge with 어〮 (-é, “infinitive suffix”) to yield 여〮 (yé), resulting in the alternate infinitive form 무여〮 (mwùyé) in contrast to the regular 뮈여〮 (mwùyyé).
