Etymology 2
Per Mladenov, Skok, Vasmer: related to Etymology 1, probably postverbal from Proto-Slavic*kloniti(“to diverge, to arch outwards”). Has been also compared to Ancient Greekκλών(klṓn, “twig”), but per Trubačev (ESSJa) borrowing is unlikely.
