This template may be used in Wiktionary entries to format quotations from Robert Boyle's work A Free Enquiry into the Vulgarly Receiv'd Notion of Nature (1st edition, 1686). It can be used to create a link to an online version of the work at the Internet Archive.
The template takes the following parameters:
|chapter=
– if quoting from the preface or the advertisement, specify |chapter=Preface
or |chapter=Advertisement
respectively. As these chapters are unpaginated, use |1=
or |page=
to specify "page number" assigned by the Internet Archive to the URL of the webpage to be linked to. For example, if the URL is https://archive.org/details/b30332436/page/n12/mode/1up
, specify |page=12
.|1=
or |page=
, or |pages=
– mandatory: the page number(s) quoted from. If quoting a range of pages, note the following:
|pages=10–11
.|pageref=
to indicate the page to be linked to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).|section=
– mandatory in some cases: the main part of the work is divided into sections rather than chapters. In most cases, if the page number is specified the template can determine the section number quoted from. However, if it is unable to do so, use this parameter to specify the section number in uppercase Roman numerals, like this: |section=I
.|2=
, |text=
, or |passage=
– the passage to be quoted.|footer=
– a comment on the passage quoted.|brackets=
– use |brackets=on
to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.{{RQ:Boyle Nature|page=239|passage=For 'tis my ſetled Opinion, that Divine '''Prudence''' is often, at leaſt, converſant in a peculiar manner about the Actions of Men, and the things that happen to Them, or have a neceſſary Connexion vvith the One, or the Other, or Both.}}
