This template creates the pronunciation of a Swahili word or phrase using Module:sw-IPA. Use it directly under the “Pronunciation” header:
==Swahili== ===Pronunciation=== {{sw-IPA}} * {{audio|sw|Sw-ke-kitu.flac|a=Kenya}}
The template can make an educated guess of the pronunciation without help:
Monosyllabic words do not get stress by default, and if the stress falls on a preceding syllable (such as with monosyllabic verbs), one can add |note=y
to mention this:
The same parameter can be used to add any other comment.
Certain words need respelling. For words that do not have their stress on the penultimate syllable, give an unnamed parameter equal to the pagename but with an apostrophe inserted before the stressed syllable:
It may be necessary to explicitly indicate syllable breaks, such as after (and before) a syllabic ⟨m⟩ followed a labial. Do this by adding periods in the respelling:
{{sw-IPA|nili.m.badilisha}}
givesIt is possible to generate other pronunciations in addition to Unguja standard as well, by adding the |locs=
