Hi there. Example sentences should "be as brief as possible while still clarifying the sense of the term.". So "I love GTA", as an example, doesn't really help our users understand the term. SemperBlotto (talk) 11:45, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
Hi. My understanding is that the ux gloss is intended for (made-up) usage examples, and not real-world citations like you flagged at maat and Englishman. When I see ux there, I remove it. Do you know different? Equinox ◑ 14:08, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
Bit more nagging: it's better not to use the Abbreviation or Initialism headers any more, because we obsoleted those (because they aren't really a part of speech). So if you create an entry like NNP it's better to use the natural part of speech (proper noun in that case) and then define it with the abbreviation or initialism on the definition line. Ahh you'll pick it up :D Thanks Equinox ◑ 15:00, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
See diff. Entries in different languages on the same page are separated by a dividing line. See WT:Entry layout for more info. — Mnemosientje (t · c) 14:09, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
It may be a little counter-intuitive, but shortcut plurals are always entered without a hyphen, so just {{af-noun|e}}
or {{af-noun|s}}
. I don't think there are shortcuts that include elided consonants as in -te. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 08:53, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
Hi, please read WT:NORM, in particular regarding the spacing between lines and between other things. You always pack things tightly but that's not how Wiktionary is conventionally formatted. —Rua (mew) 12:02, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
Was there any particular reason for replacing the existing image with one of Trudeau? I won't delete it, but adding images of politicians to fairly unrelated entries tend to cause complaints somewhere down the line. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk)
Hello. What do you mean by “The Korean ethnicity, race, or nation”? As far as I know it refers only to the Republic of Korea. — TAKASUGI Shinji (talk) 05:38, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
What was the thinking behind using this apartheid-era phrase as a usage example? Using political slogans without quote marks isn't a great practice anyway. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 12:13, 29 October 2019 (UTC)
I'm glad you're so punctual in keeping your archive up to date, but it would have probably been wiser to respond to that question about adding "die swart gevaar" first. Will you refrain from adding any similar offensive examples? ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 08:02, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
Hey- I saw your NPC edits just now, and I wanted to ask: is there a way we can draw a connection between definition 1 and definition 4 so that the reader knows they are connected? Also, although I may have seen this usage once or twice, could you add an example if you have time? Geographyinitiative (talk) 09:52, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
