Welcome
Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.
If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.
These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:
- Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
- Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
- Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
- If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
- If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
- Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (
~~~~
) which automatically produces your username and timestamp.
- You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.
Did somebody delete my entry? Steven Justin (talk) 19:19, 19 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
- The entire entry was not formatted correctly. Please read Wiktionary:Entry layout explained before creating entries. On a related note, from a quick look through durably archived sources I can't find a single usage of "O4C" that means anything useful, especially not lining up with your definitions. If you create the entry again, please create it in accordance with Wiktionary:Entry layout explained and check to make sure that there are at least three independent sources that use "O4C" in the way of each definition. Also see Wiktionary:Criteria for inclusion. I sent you a welcome message; just read all the links mentioned there please. Happy editing! PseudoSkull (talk) 19:25, 19 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi. Please try to read WT:CFI and make a little effort to find out how this site works. "A noun adverb, describing the sound(s)" doesn't really mean anything. How would this word be used? How is it a verb? (A verb is a doing-word, so it would have to be something like "I nound every day", "are you nounding at the moment...". I get it that you don't like your stuff deleted but you have to make sense. Equinox ◑ 01:29, 22 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi! Can you confirm that this is a new word that you invented, and it wasn't a word you heard anywhere else? If you could reply on my talk page (click the moon-whatever-the-heck at the end of this message), that would be great. Equinox ◑ 12:28, 5 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
