I had been removing ] and adding {{idiom}} to the beginning of the idiomatic definition(s). The template should add the note "idiomatic" to the definition and automatically add the correct category. That said, the template has changed somewhat since the last time I looked. When I have a few more moments, I'll take another look at it and make sure it's still doing what it should.
I got the old English idioms category down to only idioms beginning with O and P, so anything else has been added since then, and we should probably remind any regular contributors who are guilty not to add to this category, unless we want an ongoing job cleaning it out. Thanks for helping with this bit of cleanup. --Dvortygirl 05:30, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Please, if you notice this template broken again, tell someone; i.e. post a message about it on the beer parlour or information desk or something. I've fixed it for now, but I'm unhappy that it stopped working correctly. --Connel MacKenzie T C 02:06, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
As soon as you signed off IRC, I thought of a specific question for you. Could you enable your e-mail here, please? (I use only a spamgourmet.com alias for mine...many use gmail or other throw-away addresses for Wiki e-mail accounts.) --Connel MacKenzie 05:20, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
What is Hog, and how is it derived from Harley Davidson? (The motorbike has a hyphen). SemperBlotto 07:37, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
Thank you. Unfortunately there is no right way to do this. The en-noun template creates a redlink, and to get rid of this one has to something. A redirect is the safest and easiest way to deal with this. Brya 09:23, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
I don't have resources on Pitjantjatjara specifically, but they look real enough. mai in particular has related words in other languages that I am familiar with (e.g. Guugu Yimidhirr mayi). --Ptcamn 07:22, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for all of your hard work, especially all of the vandalism reverts I have noticed that you did while I wasn't looking. Here is a picture of a ferret wearing a fedora, ferrets love wikt and hate vandals and so they are willing to pose in hats for vandal fighters' viewing pleasure :) - TheDaveRoss 07:04, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
The dot i've put in the word means its sylabic division. The German wiktionary and the Lusophone one use dots for this function. Is this not used in this wiktionary? Thank you for the "welcome"! LipeFontoura 03:47, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
Hi, Versageek. Thanks for formatting my fast company definition. I learned a lot from your precise and detailed reworking of the definition, especially your "commented out" section. :-) --Ed Poor 14:53, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
See WT:BP discussion, we are debating whether the common meanings are useful, and whether they are a copyvio. At this exact moment, the template isn't displaying them. Robert Ullmann 15:20, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
The bot code has been extended to address some of Connel's concerns about language sections needing def lines, and to format as much of the non-standard stuff in the entries as reasonably possible. I'd appreciate comments. Robert Ullmann 23:31, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
for the nice welcome! It was great to receive such a warm welcome to Wiktionary. If you ever need anything over on enWiki, feel free to drop me a line. Alphachimp 02:05, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Why did you rev. me? I'm only adding links!!!--Pupster21 23:36, 30 November 2006 (UTC) I agree. I forgot that from Wikipedia.lol.--Pupster21 23:40, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
What are peoples requirements for sysop's here. Would they elect someone who only does RC patroling? Also is there barnstars here. If not how can you make them? Have a nice week and god bless.--Sir James Paul 19:40, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Why did you delete this word? Wiki Kong 05:40, 28 December 2006 (UTC
Thanks, Versageek..........boy this place is hard to figure out! I will probably have many questions as I go along.
I had to edit this message to get it right. And all my sources have been telling me that wikis are just so incredibly easy to use.........KnowItSome 05:53, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
I am probably doing something wrong here.........
yes, I DID do something wrong........had to revise to get the sig right. I feel that I have been misinformed by my compatriots who have been telling me so much about wikis having to be so easy or they will never work.
I think I am going to like it here.
thanks for cleaning up my astonishments entry.........i will learn........
I guess I won't have to be applying a chatter template to your page.....looks like I am following my own post of some time ago......things are a bit more serious here, it seems..... good!

Don;t forget that all votes need to be cross-posted on WT:VOTE. I've taken care of this for the nomination you proposed. --EncycloPetey 15:11, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Please unblock the IP address 82.42.237.84, the one I'm editing from now. Unfortunately a friend got on the computer, found Wiktionary in my favorites toolbar, and created a spoof spambot page.
He won't do it again: please unblock the IP, the problem is resolved. --Sunstar 02:10, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
I noticed in the logs you had a disgruntled admin user that went awry and deleted the main page and blocked every other admin as a way to show he was "going out with a bang". What was his claim against the site? I'm amazed as to wondering what would drive an established user to become an arsonist in a matter of days. Wiki Kong 03:55, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks a ton for all your work patrolling recent changes :) Please help me understand Template:alternate spelling of. I added an explicit category:Alternative spellings to it, so that I could look at a list of alternative spellings. You deleted that and said it was already there. I can't see it there... (I'm sure it must be there in some more subtle way, forgive me if I am a newbie:-) But here's the really confusing part.
Thanks for any help you can give in explaining this. Maybe you can even help teach me how to set it up so EVERY word (or at least every English word) that uses the template, gets put in the category. :-) Danke!! :-)
Thanks for the welcome Versageek. JeterThrower 00:06, 15 February 2007 (UTC) (hard to get used to the tilda thing).
I like #9! --Versageek 09:27, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
How the hell did that happen? Must have been an automated system or something? 24.115.238.8 18:43, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi,
I noticed you just deleted two entries and was wondering if you could also delete national archives which has been listed for speedy deletion for a while. Thanks, Timw. 04:15, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
You did it so fast I didn't get a chance to mark it for automatic deletion. (Bot, or you're just fast?) :-) ArielGlenn 02:56, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Hi a passing vandal fighter mentioned that you might be interested in some cross wiki vandal IPs. If you take a look at this it would be worth checking you logs to see they are blocked in a way you think is appropriate. If you want more info do let me know (it is one of those things I feel strongly about - control of cross wiki vandalism - hope you don't mind). Cheers --Herby talk thyme 07:21, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Please have a look at {{cardinalbox}}

I posted the code on the SinBot code page, now how do i activate the bot so it may do what i asked it to do? The7DeadlySins 18:21, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
Hi Versageek. I have this morning noticed and added your recent Transwiki contributions to the list, here: Wiktionary:Transwiki log. If you Transwiki words in, can you also list them here for the record? Thanks! Goldenrowley 20:06, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
You may wish to watchlist this page; the user has been reverting link removals across many wikis. The page may need protecting in the future, or perhaps blocking the user. Thanks for your attentiveness. – Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 22:25, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
As per Wiktionary:News for editors, {{see}}
should no longer be used (apparently), and has instead been replaced by {{also}}
. However, the latter is a redirect to the former (though the talk pages redirect in the proper direction).
I was going to try to update some of the transclusions, only to find that they were already done, with the exception of certain templates (that would cause the transclusions without showing up in the edit text). I reverted the lone edit I'd made so far on it out of fear of creating double redirect and breaking stuff.
What's the deal? EVula // talk // 16:06, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
Hello, I made a good-faith contribution to an entry (sand nigger) and you just reverted it with no explanation. The hidden comment was made because for some reason the "Discussion" page is disabled. My comment was made in an effort to stimulate further improvement in the entry and, as such, it doesn't improve the entry to remove it. Did my addition appear as vandalism? I certainly hope not, as I phrased it in a very careful manner. Thank you for your consideration. 24.29.228.33 06:08, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
I am just giving a notice to other admins of wikis that Smog Glue (talk • contribs • global account info • deleted contribs • nuke • abuse filter log • page moves • block • block log • active blocks) is a habitual cross-wiki vandal whose account I have already permanently blocked at Wikiquote. ~ Kalki 01:42, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
I do not want to come across as contumelious but please consider casting your vote for the tile logo as—besides using English—the book logo has a clear directionality of horizontal left-to-right, starkly contrasting with Arabic and Chinese, two of the six official UN languages. As such, the tile logo is the only translingual choice left and it was also elected in m:Wiktionary/logo/archive-vote-4. Warmest Regards, :)--thecurran Speak your mind my past 03:01, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Dear Versageek,
I am sorry to say that, but just wanted to let you know that I have removed the CheckUser right from your account based on this request, as per m:CheckUser policy#Removal of access, considering that you have been inactive on this wiki for over one year. Therefore, in accordance with that policy, your CU permissions have been removed. Thanks for your service.
Warm regards, RadiX∞ 12:17, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
Hello,
Pardon me if you are not the right person to ask, but I do not have my email linked to my account and attempting to do so prompts me to enter my password, which I do not remember. I was wondering if it is possible for an admin to add my email to my account? I am still logged in to my account of course and can use it to verify if necessary. LissanX (talk) 08:32, 21 February 2018 (UTC) LissanX (talk) 08:32, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)
