Number of languages

  • 2016 April 05: Wiktionary includes 5,141,501 entries on ~4,685,000 content pages, containing 2,246,569 gloss definitions and 5,004,890 form-of definitions, in 2336 languages — approximately one-third of the number of languages spoken in the world. 11 languages have at least 100,000 entries: Latin, English, Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Russian, German, Finnish, Latvian, and Esperanto. Two languages have over 100,000 gloss definitions: English (549,301) and Italian (142,120).
  • 2015 August 08: Wiktionary includes 2,089,893 gloss definitions and 4,254,542 form-of definitions of 4,540,520 words (L2 sections; including inflected forms) from 1628 languages, spread out over on ~4,132,000 content pages (~4,498,000 including talk pages, etc).
  • 2015 April 25: Wiktionary includes four million entries.
  • 2015 January 3: Wiktionary has 4 268 023 entries (that is, L2 sections) spread out over about 3 900 000 pages; it has at least one entry in each of 1529 languages.
