alkupuolisko

1. first half of anything, like of a period of time, semester, holiday, trip etc.
2. (sports, informal) first half (period of a game before the half-time)

In the rules of most ballgames a "half" of a game is called puoliaika in Finnish, and "first half" would thus be ensimmäinen puoliaika. The half-time i.e. the period between the halves is called tauko (“pause”) in Finnish.
