Related to Vietnamese neo (“anchor”), Khmer ចែវ (caew, “to row; paddle”), ច្រវា (crɑvaa, “oar; paddle”), Lao ແຊວ (sǣu, “to row”). Compare Chinese 櫂 ("oar/to row", SV: trạo).
