  1. From an earlier *dërkoj, from darkë. Related to ndikoj (to pour in, to influence) and dikoj (to flow, to pour). Same sense development as in derdh, with secondary meanings being "to strike down", "to cause to fall".
  2. Borrowed from Latin indicere (to impose, to inflict).
