Inherited from Ottoman Turkish قارشق (karışık, mixed, adulterated, confused, disordered),[1] from قارشمق (karışmak, to join and mix, to become confused and disordered, to interfere, to exercise control), from Proto-Turkic *karïĺ- (to be mixed with one another, to be tacked onto each other), from *kar- (to mix) +‎ *-ïĺ (reflexive suffix),[2][3] morphologically kar- +‎ -ış- +‎ -ık.
