Inherited from Ottoman Turkish صنعتكار (sanʿatkar, a tradesman, an artisan, an artist),[1][2] from Arabic صَنْعَة (ṣanʕa, art, craft) +‎ Persian کار (kâr, work, occupation, one who does).[3] Equivalent to sanat +‎ -kâr. Cognates with Azerbaijani sənətkar, Northern Kurdish sinetkar, Uyghur سەنئەتكار (sen'etkar), Uzbek san'atkor.
