1. (law, taxation) common-good; often translated into English as nonprofit (working for the general interest of the population as a whole)

The Finnish income tax law defines a common-good organization as one which:

• works exclusively and directly for the common good in material, spiritual, ethical or social sense
• is not benefiting only a limited circle of people
• does not produce financial benefits to those involved as dividend, profit sharing, higher than ordinary salary or other remuneration.
