Old Armenian
Etymology
The origin is uncertain. Possibly an Iranian borrowing: compare Khotanese (haṃggargga-, “gathering, assembly”), (haṃggalj-, “to gather”), prefixed with *ham- to an Iranian root possibly underlying Old Armenian կարգ (karg).[1][2] Said Iranian root may be related to Latin grex (“group”); see there for more.[3]
