     (اَلْجَهْلُ الْمُرَكَّبُ) أَنْ يَجْهَلَ [ٱلْإِنْسَانُ] شَيْئًا وَهُوَ غَيْرُ مُلْتَفِتٍ إِلَى أَنَّهُ جَاهِلٌ بِهِ بَلْ يَعْتَقِدُ أَنَّهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ بِهِ، فَلَا يَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ لَا يَعْلَمُ، كَأَهْلِ ٱلِٱعْتِقَادَاتِ الْفَاسِدَةِ الَّذِينُ يَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمْ عَالِمُونَ بِالْحَقَائِقِ، وَهُمْ جَاهِلُونَ بِهَا فِي الْوَاقِعِ.

     (aljahlu l-murakkabu) ʔan yajhala [l-ʔinsānu] šayʔan wahuwa ḡayru multafitin ʔilā ʔannahu jāhilun bihi bal yaʕtaqidu ʔannahu min ʔahli l-ʕilmi bihi, falā yaʕlamu ʔannahu lā yaʕlamu, kaʔahli l-iʕtiqādāti al-fāsidati llaḏīnu yaḥsabūna ʔannahum ʕālimūna bi-l-ḥaqāʔiqi, wahum jāhilūna bihā fī l-wāqiʕi.

     Compound ignorance is when a person is ignorant of something and is unaware that they are ignorant, instead believing that they are knowledgeable about it. Thus they do not know that they do not know. An example of this is those with false beliefs who think they know the truth, when in reality they are ignorant of it.
