صمت

صَمَتَ • (ṣamata) I (non-past يَصْمُتُ (yaṣmutu), verbal noun صَمْت (ṣamt) or صُمُوت (ṣumūt))

1. to be silent, to be taciturn, to hold one's tongue, to hush up, to be quiet, to become quiet
   • Hadith

     مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللّٰهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ

     man kāna yuʔminu bi-l-lāhi wal-yawmi l-ʔāḵiri falyaqul ḵayran ʔaw liyaṣmut

     Whoever believes in God and the Last Day, let him speak good or keep silent.
