Borrowed from an unattested Middle Iranian compound, whose first part is cognate with Avestan 𐬟𐬱𐬎 (fšu, “cattle”) and the first element of Persian چوبان (ču-bân), whereas the second part is identical with the etymon of պետ (pet).
