From Proto-Indo-European *kyu-to-. Cognate with Sanskrit च्यवते (cyávate, “move to and fro, stir”), Old Persian 𐎠𐏁𐎡𐎹𐎺𐎶 (a-š-i-y-v-m /šiyav-/, “to set forth”), Northern Kurdish çûn (“to go”), Classical Persian شدن (šudan, “to go”) and Ancient Greek σεύω (seúō, “put in quick motion, drive”). The verb չուեմ (čʻuem) is from Proto-Indo-European *kyew-. The root չոգ- (čʻog-), which is the aorist stem of երթամ (ertʻam, “to go”), is from Proto-Indo-European *kyow-.
