Compare Middle Persian plst- (parist-), plstytn' (paristīdan, to serve; to minister in a ritual; to worship), Persian پرست (parast-), پرستیدن (parastidan, to worship). The earlier form *պարիշտ (*parišt) survives in compounds: բարեպարիշտ (bareparišt), կռապարիշտ (kṙaparišt), ամբարիշտ (ambarišt), etc. See also պաշտօն (paštōn).
