Template:RQ:Bunyan Works

This template may be used on Wiktionary entry pages to quote from a collected edition of John Bunyan's works edited by Henry Stebbing entitled The Entire Works of John Bunyan (1862–1863, 4 volumes). It can be used to create a link to online versions of the work at the Internet Archive:

• Volume I (contents).
• Volume II (contents).
• Volume III (contents).
• Volume IV (contents).

If a quotation template exists for a specific work (for example, {{RQ:Bunyan Pilgrim's Progress}}), use that template instead of this one.

The template takes the following parameters:

• |1= or |volume= – mandatory: the volume number quoted from in uppercase Roman numerals, from |volume=I to |volume=IV.
• |2= or |title= – mandatory: the title of the work quoted. If quoting from the work indicated in the second column of the following table, specify as the parameter value what is indicated in the first column:

• |column= or |columns= – the column number(s) quoted from in Arabic numerals, either |column=1 or |column=2. If quoting from both columns, either omit this parameter or separate the column numbers with an en dash, like this: |columns=1–2.
• |section=, |chapter=, or |para= or |paragraph= – the section, chapter, or paragraph number quoted from in Arabic or Roman numerals as the case may be. The section or chapter name may be added in parentheses after the number.
• |3= or |page=; or |pages= – mandatory in some cases: the page number(s) quoted from. If quoting from the "Memoir of John Bunyan", specify the page number(s) in lowercase Roman numerals. When quoting a range of pages, note the following:
  • Separate the first and last pages of the range with an en dash, like this: |pages=10–11 or |pages=x–xi.
  • You must also use |pageref= to specify the page number that the template should link to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).

This parameter must be specified to have the template link to an online version of the work.

• |4=, |text=, or |passage= – a passage quoted from the work.
• |footer= – a comment on the passage quoted.
• |brackets= – use |brackets=on to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
