This template may be used on Wiktionary entry pages to quote an edition of Geoffrey the Grammarian's work Promptorium parvulorum, a Middle English–Latin dictionary edited by Albert Way (1859). It can be used to create a link to an online version of the work at the Internet Archive.
The template takes the following parameters:
|chapter=
– if quoting from a part of the work other than the dictionary, use this parameter to specify its name, for example, |chapter=Advertisement
or |chapter=Preface
.|1=
or |entry=
– the name of the dictionary entry quoted from. If this parameter is omitted, the template will indicate the name of the Wiktionary entry. The entry will be displayed in small capital letters as in the work; to format the entry differently using wikitext, specify |noformat=1
or |noformat=yes
.|footnote=
– a footnote number quoted from in Arabic numerals.|2=
or |page=
, or |pages=
– mandatory: the page number(s) quoted from. When quoting a range of pages, note the following:
|pages=110–111
.|pageref=
to specify the page number that the template should link to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).|column=
or |columns=
– the column number(s) quoted from in Arabic numerals, either |column=1
or |column=2
. If quoting from both the columns, either omit this parameter or separate the column numbers with an en dash, like this: |columns=1–2
.|3=
, |text=
, or |passage=
– a passage quoted from the book.|brackets=
– use |brackets=on
to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.|termlang=
– by default, the template categorizes entries on which it is placed into Category:Middle English terms with quotations. To have the template categorize an entry into Category:English terms with quotations instead, specify |termlang=en
.{{RQ:Promptorium parvulorum|entry=Swarde|page=482|column=1|passage='''{{smallcaps|Swarde}}''' or '''sworde''' of flesche ('''swad''' or '''swarde''', s.) ''Coriana.''|brackets=on|termlang=en}}
