Welcome

Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.

If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.

These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:

  • Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
  • Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
  • Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.

Old Polish

It's great seeing someone add some Old Polish! Please make sure to include only attested forms in declension tables, and also don't be afraid to include a source like {{R:zlw-opl:SPJSP}}. Vininn126 (talk) 10:51, 11 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Sure! Kapki555 (talk) 11:00, 11 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
One more small thing, we use {{C}} for categories. You should also read up on {{label}} (lb) as it can sometimes do the same. Keep it up! Vininn126 (talk) 12:53, 11 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

tráwa

Why does this one have the accent mark? Vininn126 (talk) 21:37, 22 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

honestly, not sure if the accent mark should be kept on the Wikipedia, but "trawa" used to be pronounced "tráwa" where accent mark marks the long vowel Kapki555 (talk) 18:48, 23 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

It seems most Old Polish dictionaries mark it without? Vininn126 (talk) 22:36, 23 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Long vowels usually weren't marked untill later periods, but this word indeed had a long "a".
I only found "tráwa" used there, though:

So we should honestly probably move the page, since these vowels weren't marked until Middle Polish. Vininn126 (talk) 15:47, 25 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Alright, but I'd still keep the accents in the head and declension templates, similarly how it's done in Latin words Kapki555 (talk) 13:39, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Maybe in the head. I also changed the declension to only attested forms. We can probably modify the template to include possibly forms or something, but seeing as Wiktionary is descriptive we should only describe what exists. Vininn126 (talk) 13:41, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

I'd be for including the possible forms, but of course only if it should/could be done in the first place Kapki555 (talk) 13:48, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
