PLEASE HELP!!!!

hello everyone out there...i was wondering any anyone can help me with a couple of translations? I wanna get a tattoo the goes vertically down my spine say "ALWAYS AND FOREVER" im still unsure which language I want it in so maybe a few options would help me decide...ive narrowed it down a little...

1- CHEROKEE 2- ARAMAIC 3- HINDI 4- LATIN 5- ARABIC 6- EGYPTIAN

thank you heaps....

Some of those languages are not designed to be written vertically. In particular, Aramaic, Hindi, and Arabic cannot be written vertically. Egyptian as a language is very ambiguous...there are Modern Egyptian Arabic, Coptic, Demotic, and Egyptian hieroglyphs (among others). The Oriental languages Japanese, Chinese, and Korean can be written vertically, and it is possible to write Latin and Cherokee vertically.
Cherokee (if you only see boxes or question marks, you have to install a Cherokee font):
ᎢᎪᎯᏛ ᎠᎴ ᏂᎪᎯᎸᎢ (i-go-hi-dv a-le ni-go-hi-lv-i)
Latin:
(a) Semper æternumque
(b) Sæcula semperque
As with anything that you tattoo permanently onto your body, you should get at least a second opinion on the translations first. —Stephen (Talk) 09:31, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

thanx stephen for getting back to me so fast... just another question...if i wanted to get the "always and forever" horozontally written in aramaic,hindi or arabic how would they look? just trying a few options... or even in the oriental languages too if you dont mind.....sorry if im asking to much but thank you :)

Arabic is: دائمًا وإلى الأبد ... You first need to decide on what you want first, because each language has to be done by a different person and it really is an imposition to ask for so much work just to see some samples, most of which you will never use. —Stephen (Talk) 23:57, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

HINDI Always = Sada सदा Forever = Sadev सदैव And = और

सदा और सदैव

How do you say "Believe In Yourself" in Scottish Gaelic?

khmer script

hi, can anyone translate "freedom" and the letter "B" into Khmer script? thx.

សេរីភាព (sayray-peeup). The Khmer letter that is pronounced like a "B" is (bâ). —Stephen (Talk) 01:45, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks but how come all the Khmer script is coming out in little boxes? I can't see anything except little squares?

That means that you don’t have Khmer fonts on your computer. Try http://www.wazu.jp/gallery/Fonts_Khmer.html. You still might not be able to see Khmer correctly. You will need a recent operating system such as Vista or Windows 7. —Stephen (Talk) 01:09, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

can someone please help me translate the poem footprints in the sand into aramaic? Footprints in the Sand

       One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
            Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
                 In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
                      Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
                          other times there were one set of footprints.

                                 This bothered me because I noticed
                               that during the low periods of my life,
                            when I was suffering from
                        anguish, sorrow or defeat,
                    I could see only one set of footprints.

         So I said to the Lord,
     "You promised me Lord,
        that if I followed you,
            you would walk with me always.
                  But I have noticed that during
                         the most trying periods of my life
                                there have only been one
                                      set of footprints in the sand.
                                          Why, when I needed you most,
                                         you have not been there for me?"

                                The Lord replied,
                         "The times when you have
                 seen only one set of footprints,
         is when I carried you."

Korean translation request

Hi all. I want to request the English translation for the following sentence:

한자에는 없는 조어력을 있다고 우기지말고 조력이 끝없이 많은 우리말을 감으로 하여 새말을 지어봄이 어떠할까

I know it is to do with the word-creating ability of hanja, but I'm not sure I can get the logic right. Can someone please help?

Cheers

  • Translation: One may say that Hanja came effortlessly but how many new words will arise in our language about given that they may not be be written vertically?
  • Means: Hanja was rigid and prescibed, whereas the new form will increase the ability to make new words.

I need the words "my love, my life" translated into scotish gaelic

I wanted to get a tattoo to add to the exsisting tattoo that i have of a celtic heart that my wife and I both got for our first anniversary. I wanted to get "my love, my life" tattooed around it and wanted to know the translation to scotish gealic because we are both of scotish decent and would like to incorporate our heritage into the tattoo

I believe this would be mo ghaol, mo bheatha, but regardless of the simplicity of the phrase, my knowledge of Gaelic languages in general is rather limited, so I would wait for a more informed opinion. :) — Laurent15:11, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Serenity prayer translated into Aramaic

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen.

tattoo

hello I would translate the phrase in Latin: semper memento Audere linga in khmer .. look at the news as soon as I need to be tattooed ..

I need a translation of English into Ancient Greek please.

The following is to be engraved so I need a clear translation into ancient greek if possible:

" I AM CHERUBIM " Sometimes you must wait before taking your next step. Be patient and know you were created in the stars and it is your destiny to return. Rejoice in this knowledge, for it is the gift of life.

I've managed to get a Greek translation and can add this to post if helps, I believe a lot of the difference is mainly grammer and punctuation between ancient and modern- let me know.

English to khmer script

Hey please can someone translate this into Khmer script for me please?

I have a rough idea of what it should look like.

Thanks

1. I am sure to become old; I cannot avoid ageing.. 2. I am sure to become ill; I cannot avoid illness. 3. I am sure to die; I cannot avoid death. 4. I must be separated and parted from all that is dear and beloved to me. 5. . I am the owner of my actions, heir of my actions, actions are the womb (from which I have sprung), actions are my relations, actions are my protection. Whatever actions I do, good or bad, of these I shall become their heir.

English to Irish Gaelic "Seeker" and "Wanderer"

Can any Gaelic speaker help me with these translations? Thanks.

I think wanderer is ruagaire. Seeker is more difficult. Asylum seeker is iarrthóir tearmainn. Or it could be a form of lorgaire (tracker) or cuardach (search). Depends on the meaning and context, but maybe this will help. Finder is aimsitheoir. —Stephen (Talk) 04:16, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Thank you very much. The context I was thinking of for seeker was as in someone who is seeking for meaning or purpose, their place in life. So perhaps the closest would be a form of "cuardach" if there is not a word specific to "seek"..?

I NEED HELP TRANSLATING PLEASE :)

I am 19 yrs old and just had a baby very interested in finally being able to get my first tattoo, please help me translate into the following languages...

  • "What nourishes me, Destroys me"(translate hebrew)
  • "Every new beggining comes from some other begginings end" (translate german)
  • "Life is beautiful, life is love" (translate arabic)
  • "My hearts Keeper; ZAVIA" (translate sanskrit) — This unsigned comment was added by 121.222.247.119 (talk) at 11/May/2011.
Since you want a tattoo, it's definitely best to wait for second opinions, but my instinct on the Arabic one is to say:
الحياة جميلة، والحياة هي الحب
Laurent01:44, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
German: Jeder neue Anfang kommt vom Ende eines anderen Anfangs. ("Every new beggining comes from some other begginings end"). --Anatoli 02:06, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
¶ Is “beginning” misspelt in that phrase as well? --Pilcrow 02:08, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
In German? No, the first occurrence is in Nominativ, the 2nd (eines anderen Anfangs) is in Genitiv. --Anatoli 05:25, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
The entry for Anfang actually shows the genitive forms. --Anatoli 05:27, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
I think Pilcrow is just making a pointed effort to be unpleasant to this particular user. In an edit summary he/she/it suggested they weren't taking care of their child. There's plenty of useful shit to be done around here, Pilcrow. Find it. There's a place for being a twat for no reason online, it's called facebook. — Laurent05:47, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Hmm, I see, he/she was also picking on me then, although I had never anything to do with him/her. I see a request, I think I can contribute and I did. BTW, your Arabic translation seems right. Let me romanise it for completeness - al-Hayaa jamiila, wa-'l-Hayaa hiya al-Hubb. --Anatoli 06:17, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
I'm assuming Zavia is a name, and it can't strictly be written in Sanskrit, but modern Devanagari (the writing most used for Sanskrit) can accommodate the "Z" sound which Sanskrit didn't have: ज़ाविया (Zāviyā). Not sure how to translate the other part, Sanskrit was rather... odd I guess. Lol. It'd probably be easier to translate that into some other language. — Laurent05:51, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

I want to know how to pronounce Heth or Cheth in Aramaic..

I want to know how to pronounce Heth or Cheth in Aramaic.. I really wanted to know as I would like it to be my baby's name. Thanks!

See w:Heth. The "h" is a sound that is still found in Arabic, but it does not exist in English. You could pronounce it /hɛt/ (rhymes with pet) or /khɛt/ (kh like the German or Scottish ch in Loch). —Stephen (Talk) 07:30, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Serenity Prayer Request English to Dutch.

   God,
   Grant me the serenity;
   To accept the things I cannot change;
   The courage, to change the things I can;
   And the wisdom, to know the difference.
   Living one day at a time;
   Enjoying one moment at a time;
   Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
   Taking, as He did, this sinful world
   As it is, not as I would have it;
   Trusting that He will make all things right
   If I surrender to His Will;
   So that I may be reasonably happy in this life
   And supremely happy with Him
   Forever and ever in the next.

mind, body, soul

I hope this is close enough. I'm not religious so I am not sure if I understood all of the meaning correctly.

God,
Verleen me de gemoedsrust;
De dingen die ik niet kan veranderen te accepteren;
De moed om te veranderen wat ik kan;
En de wijsheid om het verschil te herkennen.

Dag voor dag levend;
Genietend van één moment tegelijk;
De ellende aanvaardend als de weg naar de vrede;
Deze zondige wereld nemend, zoals Hij deed
Als zij is, niet als ik haar zou willen;
Erop vertrouwend dat Hij alles goed zal maken
Als ik mij onderwerp aan Zijn Wil;
Zodat ik redelijk gelukkig moge zijn in dit leven
En intens gelukkig met Hem
Voor eeuwig en altijd in het volgende.

¶ The name Ludovicus is probably the closest translation possible; I do not think the Romans used informal versions of names. --Pilcrow 19:29, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Although the Romans did not use informal first names, they did abbreviate for convenience in writing. For example Ganeus Piso (governor of Syria) was sometimes called "Cn. Piso" or just Piso. Not relevant to Louie but relevant to informal name usage. :) -User:Rob Burnet

From the novel The Kite Runner, Can someone please translate this quote ' for you, a thousand times over' in arabic/persian. I tried google translate but it didn't work completely. So, the Kite Runner takes place in Kabul, the original context could have been Pashto, if not Dari Persian or one of the other local languages.
