Etymology

From ár (flood) +‎ -aml(ik) (verbal suffix; here as -aml). Created by Ferenc Verseghy during the Hungarian language reform, which took place in the 18th–19th centuries. It was mistakenly modeled after the unrelated verb háramlik.[1][2]
