From за- (za-) +‎ зіха́ти (zixáty, to yawn) (obsolete) (whence also позіха́ти (pozixáty)), from Proto-Slavic *zěxati, related to *zěvati (to yawn)[1] (whence зіва́ти (ziváty) / зівну́ти (zivnúty)). Compare Slovene zazẹ́hati.
