From Middle Persian (kyl /⁠kēr⁠/, penis). Cognate with Khotanese (kūra, membrum virile), Northern Kurdish kîr (/⁠kīr⁠/), Central Kurdish کێر (kêr /⁠kēr⁠/), Zazaki kîr (kīr) and Northern Luri کێل (kıl). Note also Middle Armenian կլիր (klir).
