तत्पुरुष

Tatpuruṣa compound of तत् (tát, “that”) +‎ पुरुष (púruṣa, “man”). A classic example of such a compound where "that" is being used to mean "that person's".

1. the original or supreme spirit (one of the 5 forms of ईश्वर (īśvara))
2. (linguistics, grammar, lexicography) a class of compounds (formed like the word तत्-पुरुष, ‘his servant’) in which the last member is qualified by the first without losing (as the last member of बहुव्रीहि (bahuvrīhi) compounds) its grammatical independence (whether as noun or adj. or p.)
