ἀμβροσῐ́ᾱ • (ambrosíā)
From ἄμβροτος (ámbrotos, “immortal”) + -ῐ́ᾱ (-íā, abstract noun suffix). The τ (t) changed to σ (s) by palatalization. Cognate with Sanskrit अमृत (amṛ́ta, “elixir of life, immortality, food and nectar of the gods”). Also see ἄμβροτος (ámbrotos).
