bonus (feminine bona, neuter bonum); first/second-declension adjective
This template creates a headword line for all types of Latin adjectives (including multiword/multipart adjectives), except for comparatives (which should use {{la-adj-comp}}
) and superlatives (which should use {{la-adj-sup}}
). It replaces the several {{la-adj-*}}
templates that used to exist.

. For first/second declension plural-only adjectives such as dēnī, it is enough to specify the lemma in the plural form.|title=

|indecl=1

Most of the time, just specifying the lemma along with any corresponding adverbs, comparatives and superlatives is enough, e.g.:
{{la-adj|bonus|adv=bene|comp=melior|sup=optimus}}
{{la-adj|līber|adv=līberē|comp=līberior|sup=līberrimus}}
{{la-adj|audāx|adv=audāciter|adv2=audācter|comp=audācior|sup=audācissimus}}
{{la-adj|suāvis|adv=suāvē|comp=suāvior|sup=suāvissimus}}
For third-declension adjectives of three terminations, you need to give a hint that the adjective is third-declension (otherwise, it will be assumed to be first/second-declension):
Sometimes you have to give the stem, if not deducible from the lemma (the rules for deducing the stem are the same as for {{la-ndecl}}
):
{{la-adj|piger/pigr}}
{{la-adj|locuplēs/locuplēt}}
For third-declension non-i-stem adjectives, you need to specify this explicitly using the .-I
subtype:
Sometimes you need to combine an explicit stem, partial or total specification of the declension, and a subtype:
{{la-adj|vetus/veter<3+.-I>|comp=vetustior|comp2=veterior|sup=vetustissimus|sup2=veterrimus}}
{{la-adj|ūber/ūber<3-1+.-I>|abl_sg_f=ūberī|abl_sg_m=ūberī|abl_sg_n=ūberī|adv=ūbertim|comp=ūberior|sup=ūberrimus}}
In the latter case, it's not enough to indicate that the adjective is third-declension using 3+
, because it will then be assumed to be an adjective of three terminations, as with ācer above. In this case, you need to specify the full declension 3-1+
to indicate that it is third-declension of one termination.
If the adjective consists of multiple words or multiple parts, include links in the first parameter as needed:
{{la-adj|] ] ]}}
