Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.
If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.

Hi, when adding noun plural forms, please be sure to categorize them as noun plural forms, not as nouns (see this change for an example of how to do it). Thanks! —Mahāgaja · talk 22:01, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
I've recently added 娘戲屄 and 娘希匹, two known Wuu profanity into English Wiktionary. As I don't understand Wuu pronunciation, can you help with filling in the proper Wuu pronunciation of these two entries? Many thanks.廣九直通車 (talk) 05:23, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
This template may do other convenient things, but its only purpose is to import the contents of an entry's "Descendants" section into the "Descendants" section of another entry. Using it to link to an entry without a "Descendants"section causes an error.
A couple of months ago that would have meant a big, ugly red module error. That was changed to make it display the error message in preview only and to add the entry to a maintenance category so someone like me could fix it. The reason for that was that people kept removing the "Descendants" sections without bothering to fix the entries that linked to it using {{desctree}}
. That left those other entries with module errors until someone like me fixed them.
Please don't use {{desctree}}
to link to entries without "Descendants" sections. Thank you. Chuck Entz (talk) 06:23, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
Is this a plurale tantum? If so it should be marked as such. Acolyte of Ice (talk) 12:49, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
When you add a template like {{rfd}}
to another template, please make sure it's inside of <noinclude></noinclude> tags. If you don't, the rfd template gets transcluded everywhere the tagged template is used. I've seen dozens of entries in Category:Candidates for speedy deletion because someone tagged a template for speedy deletion in the transcluded part of the template. In the case of {{yol-simple past of}}
, "waithed" and "did" had module errors because {{rfd}}
requires a language code when it gets added to entries as opposed to templates. Chuck Entz (talk) 03:58, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
Hi - I'm a little confused by the fact you're adding Category:Yola pronunciation spellings to lots of entries, because Yola didn't have any written standard, so I'm not sure how you're coming to that decision. Could you please let me know what your basis is for doing this? Thanks. Theknightwho (talk) 14:02, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
You added the Yola entry at besom, but the translation of the quote makes no sense and doesn't match the definition you gave (which needs to be clarified with {{gloss}}
: what sense of "faggot" is being used here?). Can you please fix it? Andrew Sheedy (talk) 19:10, 12 October 2024 (UTC)
I raised this question on your interpretation of Yola pronunciation page seven months ago without answer, so again I ask: on what basis do you assume Yola to have been non-rhotic? With no standardized spelling, is there any reason to assume it wasn't pronounced more or less exactly as it was written? You've been continually modifying the rules of Yola pronunciation without any sourcing, and it's all very suspect. Wiljahelmaz (talk) 07:38, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
Just wondering if you are still working on {{R:MED Online-test}}
, or whether it is an abandoned experiment which can be deleted. — Sgconlaw (talk) 18:57, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
