The flood flag is a permission group that any user can temporarily be added to to help keep repetitive, uncontroversial actions from inundating Recent Changes and Watchlists. See the Special:ListGroupRights for a full list of permissions granted to this group in addition to the differences between the flood flag and bot groups. An up to date list of users that currently have the flood flag may be found here.

Note that this procedure has not yet met with community consensus.
Anyone with the power to add or remove the flood flag has the right to do so.
When the changing the flood flag of another user, note it on their user talk page so they are quickly notified.
Avoid making unapproved edits with the flood flag (as these will not show up on watchlists). For non-admins, leave a note here (or on an online admin's talk page) to request the removal of the flag, either for an intended interruption or once the job is done.
(We previously attempted a different procedure for gaining the flood flag, and archived requests are below.)
Per WT:Votes/2010-09/Statistics header#Decision I request permission for Bequwbot (talk • contribs • rights) to bot-move the Gutenberg (English) {{rank}}
s into ===Statistics=== headers at the bottom of entries.
--Bequw → τ 02:08, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Done. --Bequw → τ 02:22, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
My edits in creating topic categories have been flooding the recent changes, so I am requesting the flood flag in order to keep the RC a bit cleaner.
(Note: It would be a lot better if someone could just make a bot to do this.) (Does anyone else think that the process for getting the flood flag is a bit ridiculous?) --Yair rand (talk) 04:46, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
On entries with a quotation header and single definition line, I (Bequw (talk • contribs • rights)) would like to move the quotations under the definitions (example edit). Quotes should be associated with a definition when possible and these are the easy ones to fix. There are about 3000 entries so it would take a few days. --Bequw → τ 01:40, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

Purpose: To replace an old class of Finnish declension templates. I will use WT:AWB.

{{fi-noun}}

? Why? --Yair rand (talk) 19:46, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
The templates {{fi-noun}}
, {{fi-adj}}
, etc. are depreciated because they contain references to outdated declension appendices. We have stopped using the part of speech section for declension and started using a separate section with actual declension tables. We can't change the fi-xxx templates until all of the associated entries have been updated with the new declension tables. After that, we can fix the fi-xxx templates and start using them again. For now, we are stuck with {{infl|fi|noun}}
. See:
~ heyzeuss 13:12, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
{{fi-noun}}
says it can be used without parameters. So it should be easy to just remove all the parameters (and add the declension table of course), and once you're done processing all pages using fi-noun, removing the parameters from the code altogether. The point is that {{infl}}
should not be used for languages which we have many entries in. -- Prince Kassad 14:56, 22 January 2011 (UTC){{fi-noun}}
works without parameters, but I'm having trouble with {{fi-adj}}
because it leaves a superscripted question mark when it has parameters for comparatives and superlatives. I can probably live with that until somebody fixes it. I will use the fi-xxx templates. ~ heyzeuss 17:47, 22 January 2011 (UTC){{infl}}

template in headersI'd like to bot-move (Bequwbot (talk • contribs • rights)) {{wikipedia}}
templates that are above the first L2 into the first one, on pages where there are multiple language entries. This will help layout with Tabbed Languages, logical consistency, and editing (an editor adding a language doesn't have to worry about header data matching their new definitions). If we exclude those with Proper noun headers there are about 2000, otherwise there will are about 2400. Does this sound good (please comment on whether or not proper nouns should be excluded)?

I (Bequw (talk • contribs • rights)) would like the flood flag to delete the old Conversion script capital-letter redirects. From WT:TODO#Remove capital letter redirects there was consensus to do this. RU had another process deleting these, but it's not running anymore. There's a couple thousand still extant in the previous lists I made. It shouldn't take more than a day or so. --Bequw → τ 01:42, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
For flood flag, changing < to 'from' which I don't oppose, furthermore there's no rule against it though there's no rule really for it either. Needs one more approval. Mglovesfun (talk) 11:57, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
As noted at WT:BP#Bot request, {{es-verb form of}}
is frequently called with its first unnamed parameter (or synonyms thereof) wikified (e.g., ]
), which prevents the lemma form as displayed in the form-of entry from linking to the appropriate (Spanish) section of the lemma form's entry. I'm assigning my other account, Daneel Olivaw (talk • contribs), the flood flag to fix these so they display e.g. foo
(without brackets) and thus link to the Spanish section, using code as described in that BP discussion.—msh210℠ (talk) 16:24, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Now I'm doing exactly the same thing, for the same reason, for {{form of}}
, {{conjugation of}}
, and {{inflection of}}
, in Polish sections only, for pages edited by user:Pofficerbot only. (I say "exactly the same thing", which is true, but note that the code is somewhat different because I'm restricting it to Polish sections.) I've done some 50, checked each, am flagging, and won't check all the rest. Again, of course, block as necessary.—msh210℠ (talk) 20:35, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I am currently adding pronunciation audio files for Malayalam language lemmas. For now, I have got 2000 pronunciation audio files to add, all recorded using LinguaLibre (Commons:Category:Lingua Libre pronunciation by Vis M) and a decent mic set up (condenser mic+XLR audio interface). I will soon be recording for the remaining 3000 Malayalam lemmas of Wiktionary missing pronunciation audio.
I will be adding all of them manually but with macro key assistance. I have already added audios to a lot of entries, see Category:Malayalam terms with audio links. So please assign me the flood flag right to avoid flushing other edits in recent changes. Thank you! Vis M (talk) 12:20, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
