Inherited from Middle Belarusian отсюль (otsjulʹ), from Old East Slavic отъселѣ (otŭselě) with a vowel changed under the influence of сюды (sjudy), like in откуль (otkulʹ), оттуль (ottulʹ). Cognate with Russian отселе (otsele), Ukrainian відсіль (vidsilʹ).
