أَحْيَا • (ʔaḥyā) IV (non-past يُحْيِي (yuḥyī), verbal noun إِحْيَاء (ʔiḥyāʔ))

1. (transitive) to give life to, to vivify, to quicken, to vitalize; to bring to life, to animate

   Antonym: أَمَاتَ (ʔamāta, “to end the life of; to disanimate; to kill; to deaden”)

     كَيْفَ تَكْفُرُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَكُنتُمْ أَمْوَاتًا فَأَحْيَاكُمْ ۖ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يُحْيِيكُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

     How do you disbelieve in Allah when He animated you when were inanimate and shall disanimate you then reanimate you and to Him, you shall be returned?

      ʔaḥyā al-fallāḥu l-ʔarḍa

      The farmer cultivated the land.

        wamin ʔāyātihi yurīkumu l-barqa ḵawfan waṭamaʕan wayunazzilu mina s-samāʔi māʔan fayuḥyī bihi l-ʔarḍa baʕda mawtihā ʔinna fī ḏālika laʔāyātin liqawmin yaʕqilūna

        It is of His signs that He shows you thunder for you to fear and to seek. And He brings down from the sky water to vivify the earth after its lifelessness. Verily, these are signs for thinking men.

      ʔaḥyā al-muṭribu ḥaflan

      The singer enlived a party.
