     第(ダイ)二(ニ)條(デウ)　若(モ)シ日(ニ)本(ホン)國(コク)又(マタ)ハ大(ダイ)不(ブ)列(リ)顚(テン)國(コク)ノ一(イツ)方(パウ)カ上(ジヤウ)記(キ)各(カク)自(ジ)ノ利(リ)益(エキ)ヲ防(バウ)護(ゴ)スル上(ウヘ)ニ於(オイ)テ列(レツ)國(コク)ト戰(セン)端(タン)ヲ開(ヒラ)クニ至(イタ)リタル時(トキ)ハ他(タ)ノ一(イツ)方(パウ)ノ締(テイ)約(ヤク)國(コク)ハ嚴(ゲン)正(セイ)中(チユウ)立(リツ)ヲ守(マモ)リ併(アハ)セテ其(ソノ)同(ドウ)盟(メイ)國(コク)ニ對(タイ)シテ他(タ)國(コク)カ交(カウ)戰(セン)ニ加(クハ)ハルヲ妨(サマタ)クルコトニ努(ツト)ムヘシ

     Article 2: If either Great Britain or Japan, in the defence of their respective interests as above described, should become involved in war with another Power, the other High Contracting Party will maintain a strict neutrality, and use its efforts to prevent other Powers from joining in hostilities against its ally.
