-rre verbs

Hi @Benwing2, the template doesn't seem to handle -rre infinitives correctly. I've manually corrected the compounds of trarre but later realized that the problem is also at estrarlo, porlo, etc. so I thought I should notify you before doing many manual edits. @Catonif: @Emanuele6 and I are working on this module now so it's a good time to look at issues like this. The problem with trarre in particular is that both contrarre and contrare exist, so the module can't know how to handle something like contrarlo without being told the infinitive in at least one of the two cases. Do you think it's better to always default to assuming forms in -arC- come from the corresponding -are- verb (in which case estrarlo will get it wrong by default) or have a special check for -trar- forms and require that the infinitive be specified?
Verbs in -orre and -urre can be handled automatically, though. Benwing2 (talk) 06:38, 26 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Benwing2 I honestly can't remember having written this, but I assume I meant changing the input of all the non-lemma forms to fix it rather than changing how the module works. Since the forms are a lot I must have thought you could fix them with your bot rather than me doing it by hand. The current {{it-compound of|porre|lo}} syntax is fine, we don't want to overcomplicate the system. Catonif (talk) 12:42, 26 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

support ecco, riecco

Hi @Benwing2.

It would be nice if this template also supported "ecco" as a custom part of speech for Italian ecco and derivatives (riecco, ririecco, ...).

Currently there are e.g. eccoci, rieccoci that, as per usual with -ci compounds not defined with {{it-compound of}}, are defined as just "here we are (again)", while, really, the ci there can also mean "for him", "with them", "there", etc. not just "we"/"us".

Also eccole as "here they are" even though the le there can also be the feminine singular dative (or "formal you" singular dative) "here is thing for her", not just "them" feminine plural "here theyf are". Emanuele6 (talk) 18:32, 20 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Actually they are all defined incorrectly, not only the usual suspects "-ci"/"-vi" and "-le". eccoti is also defined as "here you are" even though it can also mean (dative ti) "here is thing for you".
It would be nice to be able to just say it is a compound of "ecco" and "ti", in which "ti" can means whatever "ti" can mean. Emanuele6 (talk) 18:40, 20 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

affittansi

The expression affittasi generally considered an adverb is commonly used to say that something is for rent; it is techincally not an adverb, but the verb si affitta in enclitic form.

It is generally used invariably, but, since it is technically a passive verb, this invariable use is sometimes proscribed.

Its prescriptive plurals that should be used when you are saying that multiple things are for rent are either:

I noticed that a page for affittansi exists, and is using the template as above. It does not mention that affittan is an apocated form, so I think the template needs a way to show it for this kind of compounds that can be optionally apocopated.

Alternatively we could force it to use affittano as base, and just omit the information while mentioning affittanosi as a synonym:

affittansi

  1. {{it-compound of|affittano|si|inf=affittare|pagename=affittansi|pos=pres3p}}
  2. (archaic) compound of affittano, the third-person plural present indicative form of affittare, with si
    Synonym: affittanosi
