This template may be used in Wiktionary entries to format quotations from the work The Bloody Brother. A Tragedy. (also known as Rollo Duke of Normandy, 1639) which is attributed to John Fletcher, George Chapman, Ben Jonson, and Philip Massinger, among others. It can be used to create a link to an online version of the work at the Internet Archive.
The template takes the following parameters:
|chapter=
– if quoting from "The Drinking Song, to the Second Act", specify |chapter=Drinking Song
.|1=
or |page=
– mandatory: as the work is unpaginated, use this parameter to specify the "page number" assigned by the Internet Archive ("IA") to the URL of the webpage to be linked to. For example, if the URL is https://archive.org/details/fletcheretalbloodybrother/page/n12/mode/1up
, specify |page=12
. This parameter must be specified to have the template determine the act number (I–V) quoted from, and to link to the online version of the work.|act=
– mandatory in some cases: in most cases if the IA page number is specified, the template can determine the act number quoted from. However, it is unable to do so if IA page 25, 38, or 72 is specified, in which case this parameter must be used to specify the act number in uppercase Roman numerals, like this: |act=I
.Act I IA pages 12–25 |
Act II IA pages 25–38 |
Act III IA pages 38–54 |
Act IV IA pages 55–72 |
Act V IA pages 72–85 |
|scene=
– mandatory in some cases: in most cases if the IA page number is specified, the template can determine the scene number quoted from. However, if it is unable to do so, use this parameter to specify the scene number in lowercase Roman numerals, like this: |scene=i
.|sig=
or |signature=
, and |verso=
– |sig=
or |signature=
can be used to specify the signature number quoted from, which is indicated at the bottom centre of some pages. If quoting from a verso (left-hand) page specify |verso=1
or |verso=yes
; if |verso=
is omitted, the template indicates that a recto (right-hand) page is quoted.
[
and ]
For example, if the previous signature number is B3 and the next one is C, specify the missing signature number as |sig=[B4]
.|sig=
or |signature=
, and |verso=
, to specify the signature at the start of the range, and |sigend=
or |signatureend=
, and |versoend=
, (if required) to specify the signature at the end of the range.
- The signature numbers indicated in the first column of the following table have been misprinted as indicated in the second column; specify the correct numbers:
Correct signature number Incorrect signature number A2 *A3 F3 *E3 G2 *C2
- In this version of the work, on signature I, recto, a slip of paper has been pasted over the top of the page and alternative text handwritten in place of the printed text. To quote from the hidden text, specify the next page (which has been inserted from another version) as
|sig=Ia
.
|2=
, |text=
, or |passage=
– the passage to be quoted.|footer=
– a comment on the passage quoted.|brackets=
– use |brackets=on
to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.{{RQ:Fletcher et al Bloody Brother|sig=G|verso=1|page=63|passage={{...}} Fryer, you muſt leave / Your neat '''criſpe''' Clarret, and fall to your Syder / Avvhile; {{...}}}}
