Pronunciation

Etymology 1

Assuming that anco represents the original form, likely a rebracketing of ancora as anc'ora. A borrowing from Old Occitan ancui (on this day) has also been suggested, but this would explain neither the stress position of anche, nor the lack of a final -ui (an acceptable ending in Italian; cf. lui).

Adverb

anche

  1. also, too, as well, besides
  2. even
