Compound of รูป (rûup, “shape”) +‎ พรรณ (pan, “colour”), literally “shape and colour”. Compare Lao ຣູບປະພັນ (rūp pa phan).

   • 1931, เรื่องพระเจ้าปทุมสุริวงศ สร้างพระนครวัด นครธม, พระนคร: ราชบัณฑิตยสภา, page 21:

     ข้าพเจ้าไม่รู้จักรูปพรรณแลนามบิดาข้าพเจ้า

   • 1935 June 10, “ประมวลกฎหมายวิธีพิจารณาความอาญา”, in ราชกิจจานุเบกษา, volume 52, page 637:
